I bought the Leapster 2 one for my Son (4Yrs) and My Daughter (Who Just turned 3 yrs) for Christmas.. They love the games. We travel a good bit and they play it in the car. My Daughter plays it 24/7.. She just loves it! We were actually worried about my daughter b/c she was turning 3 and still not talking. Since putting her in Preschool and having the Leapster 2 she's been talking a lot more.. She knows all her Alphabet and all the sounds. I bought her the Leapster Letter Factory and she just loves that game.. My son just Loves the Cars game.. I haven't bought the SD card yet but that's next on my list 2 buy so I can connect and get them some free games. You can't connect until you have the SD card. I'm not sure yet but I'm thinking a 2 GB SD card will be sufficient for the game, even a 1 GB. But It's better to buy the bigger one so that way if it fills up you won't have to buy another one along the way.. I will update when I know more.... I've played most of the kids games as well. It is very educational. My son also plays the Word Factory 2. but I do have to recommend buying rechargeable batteries. I don't have the charger yet but that's another on the list 2 buy.. I have had to change my daughters batteries 5 times since Christmas and it's just now Jan. 27.. LOL!! But it's worth it. We even got the deal where you get the free back pack that goes with the leapster and the kids love it, they think their all big and stuff! It has a compartment where you can put the games and the Leapster. I also use the front compartment 2 put pennies so I can get to the batteries when I need 2. My daughter has dropped her Leapster 2 several times and I though by the sound of the drop she may have broke it but it's fine; no scratches, dents, and it still works like it's brand new. So I say it upholds up to a 3yr olds standers as well.. I was kinda worried that She was too young but I wanted to be fair and buy her one too and the price has come down a lot at wal-mart and you can find deals on the games. We bought a bunch of Games at Target when they were having a sale and even wal-mart when they put them on sale... I found the letter factory & word factory on ebay for a good price and the games were like brand new!
